Did you know that the spinal cord is able to learn, without the brain?

My main goal is to investigate how the spinal cord – isolated from the brain - integrate cutaneous and proprioceptive inputs from its external environment to learn to adapt the motor outputs.

I am working using with mouse genetics, high resolution kinematic recording, closed-loop stimulation, virus combined with optico- or pharmacogenetics manipulations and spinal cord electrophysiology recording
