I lead the Neuroegineering department at NERF where we develop cutting edge devices that interact with the brain. To advance brain understanding, the neuroscientific community requires a constant flow of better tools that are capable of measuring and manipulating the nervous systems through different modalities such as electrical, chemical, optical and mechanical. NERF has embraced this challenge with its own engineering department.
We are developing flexible electronic neural recording arrays that will improve interaction with the soft brain tissue. We are working on the (bio)chemical functionalization of recording electrodes to enhance the connection to neurons. We are also designing microfluidic devices that efficiently interchange compounds with the brain.
